The NexPath InstallTool allows complete system restoration, or upgrading, from
a network Windows 95/98/ME or NT4/2000 PC and a CDROM supplied with the system. The NexPath InstallTool provides both
a network response to a broadcast request from the NTS Server for TCP/IP parameters (bootp), as
well as a file transfer protocol to transfer the disk image to reload the NTS disk (tftp).
InstallTool can be used simply to supply network parameters such as IP address and system name to the
NexPath Comm Server, instead of using a floppy disk.
InstallTool can also be used to completely reload the NTS Server, in the event of a hard disk crash or
to install a new software release. You can view a screen from InstallTool
by clicking here or on the postage stamp at the right. The image is
about 36K.
To use InstallTool, the NTS Server is booted with two floppy disks supplied with the system. Network parameters are entered into
InstallTool, and it is also started (on a LAN connected PC). The installation process automatically partitions and formats the NTS Server
hard disk, installs the operating system, and installs the NexPath software, all in one operation. When the installation
process is completed, the NexPath Server is identical to the system shipped from the factory. The only step remaining in
an upgrade process is to install the backup file, made with BackupTool, to restore all voice mail and configuration file
data.
