Press Release
September 15, 1998

NexPath Corporation of Santa Clara, CA announced today they have begun shipping the NTS/RX rack mounted telephony servers, which support up to 51 trunks by 85 extensions. The NTS/RX systems are based on the same technology and software as the mini-tower NTS Servers, which NexPath has pioneered with Internet based administration and call control. The NTS/RX systems include 30 ports of voice mail access, dual hot-swap power supplies, and web-enabled LAN connection as standard features. Prices start at ,995 MSRP for a base system, plus per port in 8-port increments.

The NTS/RX systems use the same NexPath CBTI interface cards as previous models, so customers can upgrade by migrating their CBTI cards to the larger system. The NTS/RX Servers are sold as turnkey, ready-to-go appliances with software pre-installed and configured for fast setup and low cost of ownership. Like the mini-tower NTS comm servers, the NTS/RX systems include PBX functions, auto-attendant, voice mail, ACD, web enabled LAN interface, and desktop call control applications as standard features.

NexPath also announced continued improvements to their telephony software, with Release 3 that began shipping in August. New features include improvements to ACD operation and capability, a TAPI 2.1 network based interface, feature additions to NexDirector™ and NexDial™, and automatic fax detection in the auto-attendant.

"We are committed to continuously enhancing our Telephony Server hardware and software to meet the needs of small businesses," comments Steve M. Gehlbach, Ph.D, President of NexPath. "Larger systems, and the automatic detection and routing of fax calls in the automated attendant on any trunk line, are features our customers have particularly asked for."

Other improvements include feature enhancements to TelOper, NexPath's web based desktop call control application, and further extensions to the SCTP interface. NexPath began shipping comm servers in January of this year that were the first commercial implementations of the Simple Computer Telephony Protocol (SCTP), an Internet based call status and control interface.

Press Release
March 25, 1998

NexPath Corporation of Santa Clara, CA announced today they have begun shipping NexDirectortm, a Call Director application with complete line and station visibility and control that functions as an operator's console. NexDirector is a LAN-based application shipped with the NTS CommServer, NexPath's sophisticated telephone system for small businesses.

NexDirector will work on any Win95 or WinNT system with TCP/IP installed. It communicates with the NTS Server using N-SCTP, NexPath's implementation of the Simple Computer Telephony Protocol. NexPath is a leader is the implementation of SCTP as an alternative to Microsoft's TAPI.

NexDirector is the second in a suite of SCTP applications that NexPath plans for the NTS CommServer. NexPath began shipping NexDialtm, the first commercial implementation of SCTP, in January of this year.

Press Release
February 2, 1998

NexPath Corporation of Santa Clara, CA announced today they have begun shipping the first commercial implementation of a network-based communications server supporting the Simple Computer Telephony Protocol. The 1998 software release for NexPath's NTS Comm Server contains a complete, open implementation of NexPath's version of socket-based SCTP, called NSCTP. Specifications for NSCTP are on NexPath's web site at http://www.nexpath.com. All NTS Comm Servers also ship with a client-server dialer application called NexDial, a native Windows tool that uses NSCTP for call control. At the March CT Expo 98 in Los Angeles, NexPath will demonstrate an NSCTP based Call Director with complete line and station visibility for an operator's console. Many other NSCTP tools are expected to be released later this year.

Included with the NexPath software release is sample Java source code supporting the NSCTP interface. Since it is network socket based, NSCTP can easily be programmed using Java, Visual Basic, or C++.

NexPath is a leader in supporting the emerging SCTP standard. "NSCTP is ten times easier to use than TAPI, and shortens development cycles by at least that amount" states Steve Gehlbach, Ph.D, President of NexPath. "We will introduce numerous tools this year based on this intriguing new interface, now that the TAPI logjam has been broken. NexPath will continue to support TAPI for desktop PIMs, but the impressive capability and object oriented design of NSCTP will allow far more functional software to be designed and introduced on a very fast track."

"The simplicity and elegance of NSCTP is very compelling. TAPI is a 1st generation design, not object oriented at all, and difficult to use and maintain compatibility across different applications. Most service providers and applications have to be hand tuned. And a great deal of capability is missing. NSCTP is modelled on JTAPI, a very sophisticated, 2nd generation object oriented model that works much better and is architecture neutral. NexPath has extended the model to include other objects such as park orbits. Access and control of voice mail files is also included in the standard, with the specification to be released later this year."
