The Nexpath Telephony Server can interface with Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) using external interfaces such as the MultiTech MultiVOIP MVP-210. Below is a diagram of a remote site connected to the main office using the Internet, with MultiVoips used in conjunction with the NexPath NTS server to complete the link. In this example, the extensions at the remote site receive inside (PBX) dialtone, and appear as if they are directly connected to the NTS system, even though they are located at a remote location. The MVP-210s make the connection automatically. It is not necessary for the user to dial any special codes or numbers to make the connection. Similarly, users at the main office can contact the remote location by dialing an inside extension number.

Offsite Extensions using VOIP

Other combinations are possible, including interfacing MultiVOIPs to outside lines, and combinations of connections to the NTS and to direct IP calls as well.
